This comic was an attempt to shift the focus of the comic away from George and his silly ice cream fetish obsession and back to the still on-going battle between Proto Man and his imposter, which I imagine many readers had already forgotten about by now. And although it hadn't been explicitly stated yet, I think it was pretty obvious that if George was the Author imposter, Bob must be the Proto Man imposter.

You know, George might be a little prescient in this comic. He comments that the comic is certainly hell, and while in this context, he's clearly referring to the lack of ice cream, I think if you just stop and take a few moments to think about all the things that will happen to George over the course of the comic, he's probably right: This is (his) hell.
