If you've ever gone into a bathroom where the toilets don't have tanks and you've seen them just flowing and flowing, chances are there's an air bubble stuck in the flushing mechanism, and unless you dislodge it, the toilet will just keep going and going. I encountered that problem a lot while working as a janitor for a couple of summers during college. The solution, in case you're wondering, is to whack the joint next to the handle really hard.
