This comic was just summarizing the events from the Third Megaman Game and the Cataclysm Flashback storylines. But the idea that the smart Mega Man from these storylines would have repercussions in later storylines was the first time something so seemingly minor from one storyline would become so important later on, something that I would do quite a bit later. This, then, led to a sense of paranoia by the fans, a fear that anything, no matter how minor, might possibly be important later.
And, because I'm a bastard, I liked using this against the fans. For example, behind the text in the last panel, there's an image of Helmut standing next to Fistandantalus, while Alternate Bob runs Sephiroth's sword through Roll, a scene that has nothing to do with anything, but is exactly the sort of thing I would do just to mess with the readers.
