The Attack of Non-Alternate Mynd | Who Wants to Be a Survivor? |

I suppose some day someone might read this comic and not get that reference, so I'll go ahead and mention the George's line is a reference to a fairly popular television show from this time period called "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" The gimmick was that, in order to draw out the tension and drama associated with each question, the host would double and triple-check to make sure the contestant was absolutely certain he or she had the answer he or she wanted. Another gimmick was that each contestant started with three "lifelines": they could phone a friend, they could ask the audience (who answered with a poll), or they could have two of the possible answers eliminated. Normally I don't go into this much detail with my references, but something tells me "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" may not be remembered that well years from now. |
