I was still writing the comic with no definite goal in mind, and I had gotten tired of Bass following Mega Man around. Since I wasn't really trying to have anything make sense, I figured having Bass run into a tree in the middle of Dr. Light's lab fit perfectly. And if you're wondering why there are trees, especially low-hanging ones, in Dr. Light's lab, you clearly didn't take my advice from the previous comic's commentary.
