With time travel and breaking the Fourth Wall, everything is possible. A couple of things to note. First, they're supposed to be on a roof-top, hence the reason the Author's hair is moving. Second, the Shadowy Author's sound effects are shadowed too. Also, if you think about it, technically there are three versions of the same Author in this comic.
