I suppose it's possible that Plant Man is actually made of metal, as are his Petal Shield, and they're like razor sharp or something. Or maybe they're actually plasma energy constructs that can cut through anything, similar to Star Wars light sabers. Maybe, but that's not as funny as a plant-based robot futilely attacking a metal robot with flower petals.
