This was my attempt at explaining why characters don't remember events that occurred in their own pasts. The idea is that previous time travel stories involved free-will type time travel, so that the future is changed when events in the past happen. Yet other times, such as when George ended up saving himself from the exploding nanobots, his time machine was set to fate mode. I called it the F'in-switch.
