This little subplot about Dr. Wily planning to use George for nefarious purposes ended up being completely dropped in favor of the Helmut storyline. I like to imagine that Dr. Wily's got so many nefarious plans on the back burner that he never noticed that this one didn't go anywhere. And besides, he did eventually get George into his lab, but things didn't turn out quite as he probably would have liked.
