The Attack of Non-Alternate Mynd | Measly Little Life |

Proto Man has a very logical point. Mike's life by itself is rather unimportant in the grand scheme of things, but Proto Man is pretty important. If Proto Man dies because he was protecting Mike, he won't be around to save anyone else, and thousands could potentially die as a result. Basically, it comes down to a question of do the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one and do the ends justify the means? It's also a bit like the Zeroth Law of Robotics, in which robots programmed with Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics eventually realize that if their ultimate goal is to keep humanity from harm, it may be justifiable to sacrifice a few humans to make that happen, overruling the other Laws. |
