As will be discussed in the next comic, if you try to hit a missile with a sword, that generally causes the missile to simply explode, and you're no better off than you'd be if you hadn't tried to cut the missile in the first place, so having it just explode into a Nate mist isn't what anyone except Mynd was expecting.

Presumably when Nate uses his morphing ability to form explosives, they usually tend to explode. So, I guess that makes him better than the T1000.
