Tachyons are theoretical particles that, if they exist, travel faster than the speed of light. Which means, I suppose, that if anyone were to ever actually discover a particle that somehow travels faster than the speed of light, it would automatically be called tachyons. I have no idea if chronitons are supposed to anything other than a science fiction term, but based on the name, presumably they'd be a particle associated with a quantization of time, much in the way that a photon is a particle associated with the quantization of light. One would think if time travel were really involved, at least one of those particles would be detected.
