I was visiting my future in-laws for Christmas this year, and I really didn't feel like going to the effort of making a real comic, so I just took a picture I had and stuck the Author in there. As I mentioned when Merv was first introduced, he was an (supposedly) imaginary polar bear that Liss worked with. I was in my university's book store and noticed they had stuff polar bears for sale, so I just had to get one for her, and it became Merv. Who apparently still has a grudge against me for some reason.
