Prior to the last storyline arc, Mike had been revealed to be an alternate version of the Megaman Universe's Ninja Ned, who had sent his version of Mynd to kill Mike. We saw Non-Alternate Mynd looking in through the window, and it was implied that his attack would begin in the middle of the next storyline. At the time, I was expecting to interrupt the game storyline with his attack, but I completely forgot about it until the game parody was almost over. So, in order to make Non-Alternate Mynd's statement work with what had happened, I decided to just jump back right in the middle of the fight. Besides, I couldn't help but wonder what the readers would make of this situation. You've got Mynd with two sabers, a giant pile of (dead?) ninjas, with Bass and Mega Man on top of the pile, and what could easily be implied to be Nate and Chadling splattered all over the back walls. That's a hell of a place to jump into a storyline.
