Rick O'Shay's comic was almost certainly the longest running fan/subcomic on the site, at least while the main comic was still active. Of course, it was always beset by long delays between updates, and I was always sure Rick had essentially ended it without officially deciding anything, but then he'd send in new updates. So yes, when Rick started, things were simpler and all of the female characters started as Roll recolors due to necessity.
