Proto Man's problem here is that if he tells George about his brother being sent back in time and dying, George might be tempted to go back in time and try to save Bob, which would really mess up the timeline. After all, that's pretty much exactly what he does when he remembers about Bob later. Can you imagine what he'd do if he thought Bob was dead?
