After the server crash, the moderators and I were discussing what to do with the forums. One option, obviously, was to reinstall Burning Board and simply start over. But I didn't really want to rely on message board software that only one person could really understand, and Coda suggested we give him the opportunity to develop his own message board software. And it seemed like a good idea at the time. It would be software unique to Bob and George, which would bring its own security.
Unfortunately, this did put us in a very similar situation, in that only one person would really know what the software was doing. But Coda convinced us that he knew what he was doing, and that he could keep up with the workload required to create and run his own message board software, so we let him do it.
Alas, while he tried, after a while, it became clear that Coda couldn't keep up. Requests and glitches were coming in too fast, tensions were rising, and it was reluctantly decided to switch to a more popular message board software, so others, like myself, could help Coda with the forums, as well as have a much large community keep track of security updates.
