It's a hard thing to choose between immediate, satisfying revenge and finally being able to go home. Bob has to figure out the chances that he'll eventually find his way home on his own and how long that will take. Add to that the likelihood that Dr. Wily is lying, which is always a possibility, and the calculation gets that much more difficult.
