I wasn't exactly sure how the events of the upcoming storyline would work, but I thought it would be a safe bet that something would happen to Bob that I could at least pretend was something like Bob being killed, so it was okay to do this here. It's not really any cheaper a ploy than I typically employ. And in the end, being catastrophically blasted back in time sure as hell looks like you're being blown up, so I think it worked.
