There are two parts to this comic. The first is the concept of an "Indian Head Penny", which according to Wikipedia was produced in the US from 1859 to 1909. As a kid, they were uncommon but not necessarily rare. Nonetheless, it was always pretty cool to find one. The second is the concept that putting change on a train track, an activity common as a kid because it was cool to have flattened pennies, could potentially derail the train. Much like the idea that if you pee in a pool the water will turn purple, it was really just a scare tactic to keep kids from doing things their parents disapproved of. |
