The problem with having a hundred foot tall Purple Demon in the comic is that it can kill everyone far too quickly. I needed some reason for Chadling to rebel against Mynd, and the idea that Mynd's "Jedi" powers don't work when Chadling's in demon form seemed as good a reason as any. So why did Chadling just crush Nate? I'm going to go with some sort of residual control. And, of course, Chadling's line in the third panel is an allusion to Watto's line in Star Wars: Episode I. This quip came about after a very long, slow drive home from work. Given that it was November, it was probably one of the first snows of the year, and for those of you who live in northernly areas, you know how stupid drivers become after that first snowfall, apparently having completely forgotten how to drive in snow over the summer and not yet figured it out again. It didn't help that at the time I was driving a small pickup truck that was absolutely terrible in the snow.
