I have no idea if this was the actual rationale behind Gamma, but it seems like something a politician would say to get it built. The problem is that, in reality, all this philosophy does is provoke your enemies to build an even bigger robot to destroy your robot. It leads to an arms race that will end up destroying the world if not kept in check. And it's only a matter of time. How long did the US have nuclear weapons before someone else figured them out? How long did the US alone have the weapon that was so dangerous, so powerful that no one would dare oppose them for fear of it? |
