Roll's comment has to do with the fact that it's almost Halloween, but this comic is still technically in a flashback, so it's not really anywhere close to Halloween for them. In fact, it's probably closer to August 2002 for them. Rush and Treble's appearance here was something of a lead-in to the next storyline.
