From the moment I thought of calling the Bass-Nate hybrid "Bate", I knew I had to do this joke, even if it is the most horrible thing I have ever done.

But beyond the bad pun, this comic was a giant fucking headache for me. You see, when the comic first went up, that actually was Mega Man, albeit evil, so there was no problem with the Helmeted Author popping in to do the rimshot (drums courtesy of The Lost Vikings). But after it was revealed that the Helmeted Author was behind the whole Evil-Mega-Man thing, there was a huge kerfuffle over how Helmut could be in two places at once. I tried to argue that he was an Author and could totally be in two places at once. After all, the Author had certainly done it before. And in light of further contemplation, if that's actually Mega Man's body with Helmut in control of it, why couldn't he also be playing the drums?

Nevertheless, to clear it up once and for all, after the Helmeted Author's attack and eventual defeat, I had the Author come back to this point and do the rimshot himself. So, in other words, that's NOT the Helmeted Author playing the drums, that's the regular Author wearing the Helmeted Author's helmet. Hell, I even went back and changed the sprite's eye color from red to purple to really make this the Author.

But it was still worth it, I think.
