That third panel took flippin' forever to get right. I was going for a tunnel look, which is really hard to do with a bunch of 2-D layers. Also, I like the phrase "taunt the black hole". There was a gradual decrease in the distortion in the bottom panels, presumably as the Alternates exert their own gravitational controls to bring the space around them back to normal. When these comics were first displayed, they were a single image. This lead to problems because each PNG is limited to 256 colors, which caused some aliasing in some of the comics. To reduce this, I split the comics up into their own files, with their own 256 colors, and simply display them on top of one another. Of course, this causes a complication in the coding, and basically makes this whole month a pain in the ass, but I think it's worth it. |
