I honestly had no explanation yet for how Mega Man survived, aside from arguing that he hadn't been vaporized, just blown off-screen. And the force-ghost thing... well, I was absolutely confident I would come up with something plausible, but for now I figured it was enough to assure the readers I would bullshit my way out of it somehow. In reality, I was making these comics on a day-by-day basis, so I really did need a few days to work out some semi-plausible explanation for his survival. As discussed earlier, I didn't know if I wanted to go into the whole "extra lives" idea, given the exposition baggage it wouldn't entailed. I would imagine I was sitting in front of my computer for quite a while with this comic, trying to decide what to do, before finally giving up and putting up a "stall" comic until I came up with something better.
