The concept behind this comic was the urban legend about the guy who strapped a JATO rocket to his car and ended up leaving a crater in the side of a cliff. I particuarly like the part where he apparently attempted to use the brakes, leaving nothing but a pair of melted tire tracks. The parallel here is pretty much that the idea of using a jet to go really, really fast might seem like a good idea at the time, and then realizing too late just how bad an idea it was.
