As part of our public service announcements, all drug trips have to go bad at the end. I believe the that the Helmeted Author is referring to is the end of version 2 of the comic. Like many webcomics out there, Bob and George went through several "versions" over time. Version 2 started in June 2000 with the introduction of Myriad Roman as the comic font; prior to that it was the dreaded Comic Sans. During both versions, the website itself used Decotura for all of the buttons, which were all flat black, as shown below. I had been playing around with Photoshop enough by this point that I decided I wanted to do something different with the site. Also, I had lost my copy of the Decotura font and thus couldn't make new buttons, and a visual site redesign was as good a reason to change fonts as anything else.
