As mentioned in the commentary from a couple of days ago, my computer had recently gotten fried due to a power surge, I was using a borrowed computer from work. I knew I'd eventually have to fix it, so I stupidly went to one of those "professional" computer shops that loves to rip off people that don't know any better, and picked up an AMD Duron processor because they didn't have a replacement Pentium 3. For those of you unfamiliar with the Duron, it was AMD's answer to Intel's Celeron, the cheapest CPUs they both made. I also bought a new motherboard and new RAM to go with it because my old motherboard wouldn't be compatible with the new CPU and my old RAM wouldn't be compatible with the new mother board... In all, it cost $300 to fix my computer and get it working again. The problem was that, especially with Windows 98, modifying core hardware like that can lead to instabilities, so I inevitably had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall everything. This storyline is pretty much were that took place, so I didn't have much time to work on the comic while I was trying to get my computer working again. |
