I needed something for Helmut to be talking to himself about while Nate oozed under him, preparing to attack. So I had him starting putting things together and realizing that things aren't going nearly as well as he thinks they are. For example, why would Proto Man have an nuclear weapon in his cache? How would that be useful for a villain that wanted to attack the lab and kill them all? It's not like you can use it without killing everyone yourself. When I was putting this comic together, I realized how much Nate looked like Pac-Man, and I couldn't resist some old school gaming references.
