The New Year's party is pretty much a direct continuation of the Christmas party, including Roll's repitition of her line and Bob and George's appearance though they really shouldn't be there. Ran's line about drinking all he wants refers to the fact that if he dies from alcohol poisoning, so what? Also, this is the last appearance of Roll's new hairstyle, as she changes it back by the next comic.
