First, let me say that none of those are pictures of any place I've actually lived, though they were supposed to be indicative of the sort of place I was living at the time. I started the comic when I was 20, as depicted in the first comic. And I was living in the dorms of my university at the time. They approximately looked like that, but not exactly. As you may already know, I started the comic after reading other webcomics and thought I'd give it a try. By the time I was 25, as depicted in the second panel, I was out of college, including my graduate work, and was living in a pretty nice apartment. I had an actual career-type job and was making somewhat decent money. I was still making the comic, though I was starting to reconsider it. I did have things similar to those in the picture, but again, that is not a picture of where I was actually living. I ended the comic on my 28th birthday, so I did not have the chance to ask myself that question when I was 30. Coincidentally enough, I was living in a place with hard-wood floors, but it was a pretty crappy apartment because I'd gone back to school for my PhD. I also did have a pretty worn-out couch, but I didn't live in a place nearly as nice as that picture. Also, I haven't yet gone quite so gray, but Liss tells me it does appear to be starting at my temples, so maybe one day. Because I ended the comic when I did, I'd like to think I've escaped my fate from the last panel. But I guess only time will tell. |
