Mega Man and Bass are smart, Proto Man's stupid, and George and Beat are violent. It's classic alternate dimension mirror personalities. Though, to be fair, who decides which personality traits get switched? Does it always have to be the most noticeable trait, or could be something mundane, like switching from left-handed to right? I mean, not everything can change, since everyone is apparently still the same gender, right?

Anyway, what Alternate Mega Man and Bass are arguing about here is a classic quantum mechanics argument. You see, in quantum mechanics, it's said that it's impossible to completely know both the location and momentum of a subatomic particle; that is, there's always some randomness to where a particle is and how fast it's moving. Some people accepted this apparent random nature to the universe, and others, like Einstein, thought it was all bunk, and that if quantum mechanics couldn't tell us everything, then it wasn't a complete theory and we should keep looking for the next theory that will tell us everything. This lead to the scientific community splitting into two camps, one side saying that subatomic particles are truly random and the other saying that God doesn't play dice with the universe like that. So, basically, a huge geek joke. Just about on par with xkcd, don't you think?

Did you realize that, because of the events in this comic, this is the one and only time in the entire history of the comic where Alternate George isn't blind and bleeding from his eyes?
