A Bad Time | The Arrival of X |

I don't really know why I introduced X into this storyline. He really doesn't fit, and you would have to make some pretty big leaps in your reasoning to come up with an explanation of his presence. But if I were to venture a guess, I would say that the Megaman X fans were clamoring for an X-based storyline. The problem was that I wasn't planning such a storyline for quite a while, but I thought this would be a simple way to indulge them. When I was putting the comics together for this part of the storyline, I had to think about what kind of world would result from Bass's interference in the past. Assuming Dr. Wily had gotten his hands on him, would Dr. Light have been able to match that level of technology? Granted, you're only talking about a matter of years, but such a sudden shift in the balance of power might actually allow Dr. Wily to win, and that would almost certainly result in the destruction of Dr. Light's lab, hence the crumbling wall in the background. And, just in case you missed it, X arrived with a trio of sonic booms, yet another homage to Back to the Future. |
