The title is a reference to the line in X-Men 2 where Ice Man's mom asks if he's tried not being a mutant, which itself is a reference to a stereotypical response to gay people when they come out, as though being gay is a choice. Alternate Bass's head-fins come in handy when they need something to cool a flux-capacitor later.
