No, Proto Man's not really this stupid. I just thought it would make for a good joke, even if it's not really the sort of thing Proto Man would do. Besides, it hadn't yet been firmly established whether this was Proto Man or Dark Man, so it's entirely possible Dark Man is this stupid. And I loved fueling fan speculation.
