Having not been to Canada before, I naturally assumed it was a winter wasteland populated by polar bears. Turns out that's only most of Canada. The parts near the US border, where 90% of the population lives, is almost just like the US, except a bit colder. So, you know, it's not a total wasteland.

This joke is a call-back to something Mega Man did once.

Also, that polar bear's name is Merv, who later appears as a stuffed polar bear I got Liss as a present.
