There's an interesting story here concerning Bass's sprite. The sprite that you see in the comic above comes from Battle and Fighters, a NeoGeo Color game, which is chock full of 8-bit sprites for many classic Megaman characters, including the ones that had only previously been in 16-bit form. Essentially, it is a portable version of the 16-bit arcade games Power Battles and Power Fighters. And, to put it simply, this game was a god-send for me and the comic, since it allowed me to do much more in the way of 8-bit action poses, and not just for Bass, but also for Mega Man and Proto Man later on.

Originally, I didn't know about that game or those sprites, so I had to try to make my own 8-bit Bass sprite. I started with an 8-bit Zero sprite from the Megaman X-treme games (which is where I got the 8-bit X spritex), and modified it to look as close to Bass as I could. Which was... well, let's just say that a few days later someone emailed me with a sprite sheet of 8-bit Bass and begged me to change it.

Wait a minute... How the hell does Bass recognize X?!
